Umar Iqbal

Umar is a dual-degree MBA and MPA student at The Wharton School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Prior to graduate school, Umar worked at GlaxoSmithKline initially as a part of their Future Leaders Program and subsequently as the Multi-Channel Engagement Manager. Umar has also been engaged with non-profits throughout the country which drives his passion for social entrepreneurship. Umar founded two social enterprises – Driver Online, which helps underprivileged Pakistanis find respectable jobs and GRIT Incorporated, a food-startup that donates 22.8% of its profits towards sending Pakistani children to school.

Umar believes in the power of education to serve as a great equalizer and the best solution to our problems. He is currently working on an online education platform that provides free-of-cost education to the 22.8m Pakistani children that are currently out-of-school alongside providing general adult education material for everyday Pakistanis to benefit.
