The Jacobs Foundation joins forces with the world’s four largest cocoa and chocolate companies Mondelēz International, Nestlé, Barry Callebaut and Mars to achieve impact through community development and education in Côte d’Ivoire.

The 2016 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize goes to Orazio P. Attanasio, Professor of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at the University College London (UCL), UK. The 2016 Best Practice Prize is awarded to ICS-SP (Investing in Children and their Societies-Skillful Parenting) in Nairobi, Kenya.

Researchers gathered at Marbach Castle for uninterrupted work during the one-week residence program. The open agenda allowed for in-depth discussion, reflection and exploration of the questions at hand.

This year three new fellows were accepted to the Jacobs Foundation’s talent network and will join the Entrepreneurship Career Program at the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley.

Working in the vegetable fields, the chicken den, or in the pigpen, is daily life and part of the lesson plan at the agricultural college La Bastilla in Nicaragua. With such a hands-on approach, backed up with theoretical input the students become true entrepreneurs in farming and help to improve prosperity in the whole region.

This was the motto of the Primokiz program’s final conference, which was held in June at the Kongresshaus in Zurich. At the invitation of the Jacobs Foundation, approximately 100 representatives of the education, social affairs, healthcare and policy sectors came together to look back on the success of Primokiz and launch its successor: Primokiz2.

In fall 2015 the first-ever Jacobs Fellows started their Entrepreneurship Career Program at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Nancy Cao is one of the Jacobs Fellows. She reflects on the differences between depth and breadth of impact and which one is more important to achieve for the different organzisations she has worked with.
