Annie Murphy Paul is a magazine journalist and book author who contributes to Scientific American, The New York Times, the Washington Post, Time magazine, and Slate. Paul is the author of two books, The Cult of Personality and Origins, a New York Times Notable Book. Her next book, titled The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain, will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2021. A graduate of Yale College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Paul has been awarded the Rosalyn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health Journalism, the Spencer Education Journalism Fellowship at Columbia University, and the Bernard Schwartz Fellowship at New America; she is currently a Future Tense Fellow at New America.
