Professor Hirokazu Yoshikawa awarded the 2025 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize
On Friday, 14 November 2025 in Zürich, the Jacobs Foundation awarded Professor Hirokazu Yoshikawa with the 2025 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize for his outstanding contributions to early childhood development.
Yoshikawa, Courtney Sale Ross Professor of Globalization and Education at New York University (NYU) Steinhardt and co-founder of Global TIES for Children, has devoted his career to understanding how early parenting, education, and social policies reduce inequality and strengthen lifelong learning opportunities. His foundational work helped integrate early childhood development into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has shaped large-scale interventions supporting children and families in crisis contexts.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at ETH Zürich, preceded by the Jacobs Foundation Symposium “Impactful Science: From Research to Policy and Practice in Child Development and Learning.”
The Prize is endowed with 1 million Swiss francs and celebrates outstanding academics whose work advances our understanding of how children learn and develop. Established in 2009 in memory of our founder, Klaus J. Jacobs, it honors exceptional contributions that help children around the world learn and thrive.
We congratulate Professor Yoshikawa on this achievement and look forward to the continued impact of his work on children and learning systems worldwide.
