Nelson Amaya

Nelson Amaya is a Global Knowledge Manager on the Knowledge and Communications team at the Jacobs Foundation. He has extensive experience in development, working in international organizations over the past 10 years, most recently as a Data Scientist in IOM. Nelson led the research of the OECD Centre on Philanthropy, collecting data and analyzing philanthropic financing for development and non-profit organizational practices. Before that, he worked as a consultant for the World Bank.
Nelson’s work focuses on bringing applied research and data analysis to knowledge management, including surveying, data collection, and statistical modelling—integrating collection, visualization, modelling, and publication using open-source tools.
Nelson holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).
