LEVANTE opens 2025 Call for Proposals

The Jacobs Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 Call for Proposals under our Learning Variability Network Exchange (LEVANTE) initiative, offering up to USD 5 million in research funding to deepen understanding of how children learn and develop across different contexts.
LEVANTE is a flagship research initiative of the Foundation’s Strategy 2030. It seeks to understand how children learn differently and how education systems can respond to that variability in equitable, evidence-based ways. By supporting groundbreaking, interdisciplinary research, LEVANTE aims to generate actionable insights that inform classroom practices, education policies, and learning environments worldwide.
This year’s call invites proposals from research labs at institutions of higher education or research institutes with expertise in child and youth development. Successful applicants will join a global network of scholars working to strengthen the evidence base on learning variability and its implications for education policy and practice.
This Call for Proposals places a particular emphasis on internationalisation, and we especially encourage applicants interested in implementing projects using LEVANTE measures in underrepresented regions or countries in the Global South. If you are planning to collect data in the Global South, please click here for more information.
Proposals should focus on typically developing children aged 5 to 12 and explore learning variability at the individual, group, or contextual level. Funding is available for both small projects (up to USD 600,000) and large projects (up to USD 1,000,000), with a minimum project duration of four years.
Applications are open from 27 June to 19 August, 2025. Detailed eligibility criteria, funding guidelines, and the submission portal are available on the LEVANTE website.
