Research Focus

As a new Jacobs Foundation Fellow, Nia is excited to leverage the power of AI to make STEM education more inclusive and engaging for all students. Her work will bring together researchers from across the globe, sharing insights and strategies to ensure every child can thrive in a tech-driven future.

My plans for the fellowship period

During my fellowship, I will focus on using technology to make learning in science and math more accessible and welcoming for everyone, especially for girls and students from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to develop tools that help students work together more effectively, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued in their learning environments. I am excited to collaborate with fellow researchers and educators from around the world to share ideas and create innovative solutions that can be used in classrooms everywhere. This opportunity will allow me to make a real difference in how students interact with each other and engage with STEM subjects, setting them on a path to success in a technology-driven world.

How will my work change children’s and youth’s lives?

During my fellowship, I will develop tools that use technology to make learning more inclusive and supportive, particularly in science and math fields. My aim is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, feels valued and engaged in the classroom. By integrating AI to tailor learning experiences, I plan to help students not only improve their academic skills but also build confidence in their abilities. This approach is especially important for girls and students from underrepresented groups who often face barriers in STEM fields. By creating a more welcoming learning environment, I believe we can inspire a new generation to pursue their interests in these areas and achieve their full potential. This work isn’t just about improving test scores; it’s about changing how students see themselves and their futures, opening up new pathways for success and innovation.
