Call for Applications

Early childhood is a critically important stage in life, since it is the time when the groundwork is laid for the further development of cognitive and social skills. For these skills to be fully developed, children need opportunities to benefit from high-quality early childhood education.

The Jacobs Foundation awards scholarships to individuals in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and Romania, who are pursuing a career dedicated to providing children with opportunities to benefit from high-quality early childhood education and care programs. Up to five scholarships cover the tuition for a full certificate of advanced studies (CAS) in Economics and Pedagogy of Early Childhood Education at the University of Geneva. The program provides participants with the tools they need to implement the most innovative educational approaches.

Jacobs Foundation scholarship recipients are practitioners in the field of early childhood education and care. They interact with children daily while also starting to grow into a leadership position. They drive change and will employ their studies to improve early childhood education and care in the above mentioned countries, at their respective institution and beyond, be it in the education system or on the policy, business or societal level. They automatically become active members of the Jacobs Network, thereby interacting with Jacobs Research, Social Entrepreneur, and Media Fellows. They are ambassadors for high-quality early education and promote the goals of the Foundation.

Interested parties need to submit an updated CV and a short motivation letter of max. 200 words explaining why they are suitable candidates and what they plan to achieve after their studies in the future. Please send your application to eced@unige.ch. You can also use the same email address for further questions and clarifications.

An early round of applications with submission deadline September 16th, 2018 will be considered for starting the program in time for the first module (3-5 October 2018). Later applications will also be considered on a rolling basis. Early application is always a strong advantage.
