Franz Tschimben

Franz has spent his career until now in the technology sector between Silicon Valley and Europe. He is the CEO of Covision Lab, a Computer Vision technology center in the North of Italy. With Covision Lab his mission is to produce world-class research in the area of Computer Vision technology (a form of Artificial Intelligence), with the goal to leverage it for industrial applications.

Previously he founded Common Interest, a tech start-up helping private organizations align incentives of stakeholders and shareholders. Prior to becoming a founder, he helped build and grow Savari, a Silicon Valley based self driving car technology company. Franz also held management consulting positions at Accenture and PwC, and worked for Samsung’s technology center in Seoul. Franz is a Fulbright Scholar, holding a Master’s degree in Strategy and International Management from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, a Master’s degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from ESADE Business School in Spain, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the University of Bolzano-Bozen in Italy. During his studies at the University of St. Gallen, Franz co-founded Puredrops, a student-led social enterprise providing people in rural areas of developing countries with access to clean water.

As a Jacobs Fellow, Franz looks forward to sharing his experience and learnings growing a successful team and technology company. Together with the Jacobs Network and Foundation he wants to contribute to social impact projects, especially in advancing opportunities for the youth.
