Nurturing Entrepreneurial Spirit

The Social Entrepreneur Fellowship program of the Jacobs Foundation named nine new Fellows enriching the Jacobs Network with their experiences in establishing start-ups, working in the education- and non-profit sector, as well as in microfinance and social impact.

The Social Entrepreneur Fellowship program was launched in 2015. Classes have ranged in size from 3 to 9 Fellows, with a total of 18 selected Fellows over the past three years. The Fellowship provides the Fellows’ with the unique opportunity to focus on social impact. Different forms of fellowships are available such as support of tuition for MBA students, loan forgiveness programs for graduates, or start-up funds for entrepreneurs in the social impact space. Different fellowships are offered in partnership with different schools in the US as well as in Europe.

The program is designed to facilitate the Fellows’ use of either social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, and social innovation with the goal to make a difference in the lives of children worldwide be it directly through access to education or providing opportunities to improve the livelihood of the whole family.

The fellowships are offered in partnership with the Jacobs Foundation and the
Haas School of Business at University of Berkeley; MIT Sloan School of Management; Saïd School at University of Oxford; Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania; and Yale School of Management. Interested candidates have to be accepted at a business school partnering with the Foundation before being eligible for the foundation’s social entrepreneurship program. The fellows 2018 – 2020 are:
