2016 Klaus J. Jacobs Awards Bestowed

The Jacobs Foundation has awarded the 2016 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize and Best Practice Prize honoring outstanding achievements in research and practice in the field of child and youth development. 300 international guests of politics, science, business and culture attended the awards ceremony on December 2, 2016, at the University of Zurich.This year’s Research Prize, which is endowed with one million Swiss francs, was awarded to Professor Orazio P. Attanasio of the University College London (UCL) for his use of economic models and field experiments to assess and shape early child development programs and policies in low income countries.

The Best Practice Prize, which includes an award of 200,000 Swiss francs, went to ICS-SP (Investing in Children and their Societies-Skilful Parenting) in Nairobi, Kenya for their skilful parenting program in East Africa aimed at improving early childhood development, parenting and agricultural practices in rural areas.
